What a joke! This is what is ruining local racing everywhere...changing rules every year (mostly to satisfy the teams with money). Why call it a "B" mod? If you want A mods why not just bring them back? Why call them "pure stocks"? Factory Stocks will be late models with "factory" aluminum bodies. If you want to run what the higher classes run, MAN UP and move up to that class instead of trying to change the class you run in. If I wanted a spoiler and all that ****, I'd run an A mod. Some of us run a certain class because we WANT to. Maybe I'm the only one. Just more things to keep us low dollar guys farther behind. I go out there every week on my last dollar KNOWING I won't win, but hoping I can run in the pack and have fun. Looks like that chance is fading too. Way to take the fun out of it! Maybe I'll take up bowling or something with some kind of consistency in the rules. Not to single out Midway...it's just the track I run at.

A-men !! But we have about 5 saturday night tracks within 1 to 11/2 hour pull (Boy I wish we had a good friday night track!) some of them have been pretty consistent with the rules, west plains for instance the super stock rules have been the same for probably 10 years, they did change the weight rule from 3300 to 3100 but that didn't cost anything! & that class is the same as the old midway factory stock with a 2bbl carb! B-mods have the same rules as last year they had the same rules as springfield but jerry went with the imca nose??? (Don't know why but he did.) but if you want to run both tracks just keep the old nose piece on the car and go! & A-Mods they are crazy like the midway B-Mods only big engines. But I agree if you can't keep it affordable at least keep it consistent. Most rule changes cost money, and that cost car count, pretty soon you have a track that's got 5 or 6 cars per class, then you lose your spectators! When that happens, Stick a fork in it its done!

Updated Factory Stock rules , left out on piece of information.

Keep in mind not one rule was put in to cost a guy money. Purestocks were added 9 in fords for the saftly aspect. I have seen on to many tires wheels and axels go over the fence. I don't want on on those in the croud. 47% rule to keep them from adding weight to the back. $2000 car claim to keep the money in these cars in check.

Bombers - we allowed the 2101 intake last year , just wasn't added to hard copy of rules whick Marve will be working on soon. Harold took out the camaros firebirds and trans ams I put them back in. Took out the weight %.

    Midwest mods - no change

Modifieds - just added the spoiler package, you are going to see A-mods have the spoilers taken off , we are just allowing them to put them on. I allowed both tires on the right side to have a bead lock, This should keep the racing going if the track gets rough. Quick change rear ends are no advantage at all unless you are running more than one track. They take more horse power to run than a nine inch. These additions are completely optional and on a short track are not a performance advantage.

Factory Stocks - Allowing Aluminum Doors and Hood cost less than buying stock doors and hood if you need them, Weight jacks - most cars have them , not a cost issue here.

I hope this clears up some issues

    Jack,
I just had to vent. If I don't vent, I'll quit. Thanks.

soory but the chevy marine intake needs to be taken out of the street stock the 2101 dont match up with the marine intake for ford or chrysler if thats the case let us run vector jr intakes thats more compareable ...

I hated to let the nose be legal in B Mods .IMCA,UMP, USRA did so it was hard not to let it be legal.

Let me make sure I understand the P/S claim rule. Any car on the lead lap of the P/S feature May claim a) the winner, b)the top 5, c) any other P/S in the feature for $2000. The claimer gets the entire car (2v carb to 9in rear end) & the claimed gets the seat, belts & $2000?
Thanks for trying to get this class under control.
  9. jumpinjack Member

    The winners car.

    $2000 minus seat and belts.

How is a quick change better ? If midway is the only track allowing them to run one???

Back in the day we had 3 tracks that shared the same classes, the same rules, but different nights, we ran sat. night every weekend but on occasion we would run friday or sunday too, and ya know each track had a big car count and I'm talkin an A & B feature in almost all classes some guys ran all 3 tracks trying to win the bonus money for doing so, now its like the track owners all want Saturday night and separate rules. I don't know, I'm not a track owner, just been around racing for about 25yrs if you had that same cooperation as they did bake then and kept. The rules the same, and I agree with Jack some changes are good for safety like, like the ford rear end, some are a desperate attempt to lure a whole different class of cars to come race so the car count will increase (quick change, spoilers) may not be an advantage but it sure opens the door to some big money guys to slip that 20k 355 in and go wax the guys running the 3500 budget motor and had to save all year to buy that one. We have lots of tracks in our area lots of racers that have quit due to a multitude of reasons but most I have talked to, say it got to expensive meaning they couldn't run in the pack and be competitive, nobody wants to go get the doors blown off week after week, we all want to be IN the race! So track owners, just keep it consistent, & as economical as possible for the guy workin a 9 to 5 job & you may see your numbers increase in those classes, if it aint broke don't fix it! Hay & I'm glad we have you guys I love racin on this good ol southern missouri dirt !! I think the old bomber class over in the Lebanon area was a great class but just got out of hand, the super stocks at west plains is an awesome class, the B-Mods at Springfield & West Plains awesome, Midwest Mods at Springfield & Midway awesome!! But if they get out of hand! They go away too, stay on top of the rules that are! DQ the guy caught cheating & tweek the rule if its necessary! Thanks to all our track owners ! Looking forward to a great upcoming season of throwen some of that good ol Missouri dirt

Hey Jack, Just a thought. :)

The "penality" for not allowing the Pure Stock claim is not enough IMO. How about giving the "penalized" points and money to the person trying to claim a car? If the track is the one claiming and is denied, why not make it a minimum of a month suspension and loss of all the points gained to that time?

"B" Mods? Really think you should just call them Midway Mods. They run at Midway and they are midway between an "A" & "B".

    Good luck in 2012. :)

PS: Thanks again for letting OMR hold the Rallycross at Midway. It was an awesome time even though we didn't get the turnout we hoped for.

If a person was suspended for a month them and there family/spectators would either A. go to another track or b quit racing....Maybe make it 1 or 2 weeks.
  14. jomac11 Member

If they refuse the claim, they're obviously cheating, who cares if they come back?

I like the claim idea, but I doubt it ever happens.....and I don't think you can build a competitve Pure Stock for $2,000.....know you can't from scratch unless you know a LOT of folks who can help for free.....IMO.

I TOTALLY AGREE ALSO HOW ARE YOU GOING TO PUT ANOTHER CAR TOGETHER IN A WEEK?
  17. bng_007 Member

hmmm... the old malibu may have to make another race or two. $2000 for everything but seat and belts huh. I wonder how many of last years engines will be in those cars for next year???
  18. Personally I wouldn't let a car go for 2000, even if i had all junk parts. I remember the good ole days when you could throw a cam and a set of stock heads on a car and be competitive. But making stock parts illegal kinda takes away from the Pure Stock name.
